The name Maple Wood Catering was chosen to represent warmth, family, and the comfort of a great meal shared together. We wanted something that felt genuinely local — rooted in New England and the kind of food that brings people to the same table.

Meet Jay.

Maple Wood Catering is led by Jay "Jurhan" Sherifoski, a Connecticut-based chef with deep Italian kitchen roots and a commitment to fresh, made-to-order cooking.

After spending more than 20 years working in professional kitchens across Connecticut, Jurhan developed a reputation for consistency, quality, and respect for ingredients. He began his career as a teenager washing dishes and worked his way through every station and every detail of the craft along the way.

He spent five years refining operations and consistency inside a well-known Italian kitchen in Beacon Falls — an experience that helped shape the standards he now brings to every event he serves.
